Choose your size:
THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO WEAR YOUR HAT AND IT'S ESSENTIAL TO PICK YOUR STYLE BEFORE YOU START MEASURING YOUR HEAD, BECAUSE THERE ARE IMPORTANT DIFFERENCES.
OPTION 1: HALO STYLE
WEAR YOUR HAT IN A MORE RELAXED WAY - LIKE THE MODEL IN THE PHOTO - AT THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD. TAKE YOUR MEASURING TAPE AND PLACE IT FROM THE FURTHEST PART OF THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD TO THE TOP OF YOUR FOREHEAD, WHERE YOUR HAIRLINE BEGINS. MAKE SURE TO MEASURE ABOUT 5MM ABOVE YOUR EARS.
OPTION 2: TRADITIONAL STYLE
WEAR YOUR HAT THE TRADITIONAL WAY, LIKE A COWBOY ;) TAKE YOUR MEASURING TAPE AND PLACE IT FROM THE FURTHEST PART OF THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD TO THE CENTRE OF YOUR FOREHEAD, ABOVE YOUR EYEBROWS, OR WHERE YOU WANT YOUR HAT TO SIT. MAKE SURE TO MEASURE ABOUT 5MM ABOVE YOUR EARS.
CHECK WHAT SIZE THE MEASURING TAPE SAYS. IF YOU'RE IN BETWEEN SIZES, WE RECOMMEND GOING UP IN SIZE. SOME PEOPLE LIKE THEIR HATS TO SIT A BIT LOOSE ON THEIR HEAD, OTHERS LIKE IT MORE TIGHT. FIND YOUR PERSONAL PREFERENCE AND MEASURE EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT YOUR HAT TO SIT.
Maintenance Scarves and Plaids:
We have to admit, it takes a while to maintain the extreme softness and fluffiness of alpaca products. This is what you can do:
- wash by hand or in a delicate program in the machine at a maximum of 30 degrees.
- air dry and possibly 10 minutes in the dryer at a low temperature to regain maximum airiness.
- steaming is also a recommended option.
Finally, for perfection:
- brush with a soft, fine-bristled brush in the direction of the alpaca hair. Then iron at a low temperature (max 110 degrees) in the same direction.
In the case of a stain, steam your hat over hot steam (for example, using a kettle) and brush over the stain with a soft brush until it disappears.
In the event of a dent or bump in the shape, hold your hat over hot steam for a few seconds. Remove the hat from the steam and use your hands to reshape the hat. Move over the dent or bump repeatedly.
Needless to say, but be careful when handling hot steam.
Bufandy is a Dutch fashion brand founded by the travel enthusiast Dorien. Bufandy stands for fair scarves and hats made from South American alpaca wool. Bufandy originated from a passion for craft, culture and sustainability.
The special texture of the scarves and the irregularity of the material is the result of the traditional craft that is used to make the scarves (brushing).
Dorien's mission is to make timeless scarves and hats, made with respect for the environment and people. All items are made by small-scale family businesses in Ecuador with alpaca wool from Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador.
